Who We Are and
What We Believe
Founded in 1872, Great Marsh Baptist Church has a history rich in the movement of the Lord among His people in this community. We have been blessed by His presence and His guidance throughout our existence. Many godly men and women have helped us to become a church where the Lord God is glorified and His people have been blessed. Though we have not always lived up to the Lord's standards, His mercy and forgiveness have been abundant toward us. As we try to imitate the Lord Jesus we are growing in our faith, our love and our works.
Pastor Don has led our ministry since August of 2002, when he came to us from a church plant in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is married to Sharon and they have one daughter, Amanda.
Don grew up in Cleveland County, North Carolina and was called to ministry after a mission trip to San Pedro, Argentina. He graduated with a Master's of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and was ordained at Boger City Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
During his time with us, he has been on mission trips to Watertown - NY, Pittsburgh - PA, Shelby - NC, and Chernihiv - Ukraine.
He is currently serving on the Board of Directors with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina in addition to his ministry with us.
We are a Southern Baptist Church and our basic doctrines and beliefs are contained in the Baptist Faith and Message. They are contained on this link:
